The three BOCES Career & Technical Centers in St. Lawrence County have recognized outstanding students.
Seaway Career & Technical Education Center in Norwood is pleased to announce Samantha Foster as the Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for December 2020.
At Northwest Career and Technical Center in Ogdensburg, Jaselyn Pomales-Santana was recognized as the December Student of the Month. Pomales-Santana is majoring in Cosmetology.
At the Southwest Career & Technical Center in Fowler, Breena Drake, daughter of Brian and Kimberly Drake, was selected as the December Student of the Month, sponsored by the Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce. She attends Gouverneur Central and is enrolled in the Allied Health Program.
MASSENA — Remote instruction that began last Thursday and Friday has continued this week at Massena Central High School and J.W. Leary Junior High School.

NORWOOD: The Seaway Career & Technical Education Center announces Samantha Foster as the Potsdam Rotary Club Student of the Month for December 2020.
She is a student in the Software Development & Business Design Program from Brasher Falls Central School District and is the daughter of David & April Foster.
In the junior year the program, students learn how to develop web pages through the use of computer languages HTML, CSS, and JavaScript along with gaining an understanding of design concepts and how they affect the world of web development.
They are also introduced to more advanced programming skills with PHP and MySQL coding. In addition, they develop websites, web software packages and other computer-based projects.

Together, Northwest Tech, Southwest Tech and Seaway Tech put together care packages for the staff at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care, formerly RiverLedge in Ogdensburg to help with the crisis they are facing.
Culinary students prepared muffins and energy balls for individual packages as well as plates of holiday cookies.
Students and staff created and also signed cards of support, and love for staff and residents. They also packed snacks and quick meals for distribution.
Pepsi of Ogdensburg donated cases of Gatorade and water to the BOCES care package program.

CANTON Canton Central School will educate students fully remotely through Jan. 4 following the report of four confirmed COVID-19 cases among the student body, said a press release from school superintendent Ronald P. Burke Monday, Dec. 14.
“Today, we were notified of four confirmed positive cases of COVID-19. The cases involve one elementary student, one middle school student and two high school students,” Burke said. “Using the guidelines of Public Health, our school staff has been notifying individuals of possible exposure and that they should remain at home until contacted by Public Health.”
Burke’s announcement said staffing issues at all three buildings led to the decision to go fully remote.
