mining zast evedisaster. the rescue workers and family and survivors, it lasts even eight years later, you still have evidence of post-traumatic stress. i will tell you and bobby would agree with me on this, when it comes to anxiety, there s a very profound short term implication as well when you re trying to do a rescue using scuba equipment, if there is anxiety or panic or something, that can turn into a life threatening situation. someone tries to remove their mask or behaves in a way that s dangerous cannot only put their life at risk but also the rescue diver s life at risk as well. there s a short term and long term component. but that long term component is there. some of the students have no idea the world has been gripped and watching what s happening here. of course. as they emerge, it s a very different sort of level of concern they may have. but again, eight of those boys at least safely out of the cave now at the hospital, four more to go tomorrow and the

britain and many other countries involved and i love the fact that they ve come together. it s a tough, tough thing. is it more challenging than people being rescued that these are children? does that make it more difficult? we talked about it a little bit but maybe if you can expand upon the fact that they re basically training these kids on how to use scuba equipment. if you were to get a scuba certification, it takes you weeks. it is tough. you have things like buoyancy, you have to figure that out. if they re too buoyant they ll stick to the ceiling and if they re too negative they ll sink. then finding a face mask that fits them properly and there are some people you can offer them hundreds of dollars and they won t put their face in the water so i don t know what these kids are dealing with on top of that it s dark, they probably have lights and things down there now. imagine walking into the caves with air and leaving the caves

here which would involve reducing the water level in the cave so the kids could actually walk out. this is kind of what this looks like. the pipes are the end of the system of pumps that they ve installed. if you follow the pipes all the way down, you can see where they drilled down into the well. for days now nonstop 234 24 hours a day, water has been pulled out of this cave, and this is where it s coming out. the hope is they can pull enough water out of the cave so the kids can walk out. the kids are tired. they re exhausted. some of them don t know how to swim. none of them have scuba diving experience. the other option is they might have to swim out, use scuba equipment in what could be a dive even for an experienced diver, difficult. this is what rescuers are doing here. they re facing this short window as you mentioned off the top

boys out before the rains start using converted scuba equipment through these incredibly difficult passageways leading into the cave, probably it s a six hour trip out for experienced divers. goodness knows what it will take to shepherd these children out after their exhausting ordeal. the contingency plan you talk about i think is an accelerated version. if the rain comes and when it comes, it s torrential and it will flood the cave system again very quickly. they have been working very hard to pump out as much water as they can. the pumps are down there. the outflow is down the hill. it s been flowing out for days now. i watched it. they have managed to get the water levels to drop a lot, which is great. but not enough to lower the water level below the roof level. there will be patches of the exit which will require actual diving. that is the hard bit for the boys.
