In addition to being a great neighbor to the university, Gainesville represents a great opportunity for learning. It’s a community where our students learn through real-world experiences and, in turn, serve while they learn.
We’ve long understood this at the University of Florida’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), and we’re striving to make learning through service more commonplace. Because CALS is part of the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), CALS students have access to a broad array of off-campus experiences.
The UF/IFAS network of faculty, staff and students operates in every county across the state, making so many corners of Florida outposts of teaching, learning and community service. As home of the main campus, Gainesville benefits the most from students’ off-campus projects.
