Parliament’s standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) has rejected higher education minister Blade Nzimande’s request to keep a forensic report on possible corruption in the National Skills Fund under wraps.
Senzo Mchunu says when he became water and sanitation minister in August 2021 he inherited a department riddled with vacancies and millions in unauthorised, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure.
Mchunu said even mayors were involved in the water tanker scams, where municipal infrastructure was deliberately targeted by those who wanted to win tenders.
