And i would say we could all be teachers, but the School System has taught us you cant teach it unless you have a degree or some sort of approval of some governing body that approves as a teacher, and that is not the case. I think people as they advance in their careers, they understand they have something to offer and they become teachers without that sort of approval. Audrey, give me an idea here, were talking about looking back, and you know, again, i had the pleasure of being at the very first growing up asian in america event. Tell us in terms of, like, where it was and where it is now. Audrey yeah, sure. So, it actually started back in 1995, so that was shortly after there started to be an Asian Pacific American Heritage month, so we feel like its one of the longeststanding celebrations of ap heritage month. And since that time, weve received nearly 25,000 different entries from k through 12 students from across the bay area, and awarded more than half a Million Dollars to the top 1,000 winners across those years.
