The West Bengal government has advanced the summer vacation for state-run and aided schools to begin from April 22 due to ongoing heatwave conditions. A notification from the School Education Department stated that both students and school staff will be on leave during this period, except in hill areas like Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts where the existing academic schedule will continue.
A notification issued by the School Education Department on Thursday said apart from pupils, the teaching and non-teaching staff of the schools will be on leave during the period but subject to the direction of election authorities concerned in view of ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
