Children from Dane Ghyll School in Barrow took part in the Big Schools Birdwatch for 2021. Year Five and Year Six pupil (pictured) spied a variety of birds in the RSPB initiative. Pupils have also taken part in the birdwatch at home due to Covid restrictions. Pupils spotted seagulls, sparrow and magpies in 20th anniversary of the programme, in which schools supply important data to the charity on which birds can be seen in different parts of the country. Louise Postlethwaite, the head gardener at Dane Ghyll School, said: “The children enjoyed their afternoon in the school grounds birdwatching. “They mainly saw seagulls and starlings.
