A very good saturday morning to you. Right now, in this country, some 61 of workers, 18 and over, have access to some form of paid sick leave. About 49 million American Workers lack paid sick leave. Thats what we are talking about this morning. Only three states in this country require some form of paid sick leave. Here is a map this morning from the National Partnership for women and families. Those three states, california, massachusetts, and connecticut, connecticut and massachusetts laws provide 40 hours of sick time per calendar year. Calendars taxed at 241 hours. Law goes into effect in january. There is also over a dozen cities and municipalities around the country that have their own laws when it comes to paid sick leave but president obama has proposed a sevenpaid sick leave california year in his state of the union address. The cost is a good question. The way the pell well would work youre telling a student up front how much in dollars as opposed to percentages they do now qualify for. This fire is clearly generating its own winds. This side of the fire has already been evacuated. Those folks are over at pope valley elementary school. Now what theyre concerned about most is berryessa early we spoke with a woman who owned a horse ranch. She had to evacuate some children, some campers and horses. We were able to e vak wait the kids out of the camp. We probably still have 30 horses. But all the kids are safe and sound and theyre out. And again they had to evacuate horses. From the ground and air and very tricky dangerous conditions. Good evening. Extreme conditions in south san jose took 2 firefighters out of the mix this afrnoon. They suffered heat related injuries while trekking up and down the teresa foot hills battling a blaze that started at curry drive and pel cou. Vic lee is on the story. Firefights have now contained more than 30 percent of the blaze. But its still hot onhe ground and there is a chance it will flare up again. Hand crew are now working on mopping up the hot spots.
