An EF-0 tornado touched down during Monday's supercell storm, and temperatures are expected to hit record highs Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Storms set off tornado sirens and downed trees and power lines in the suburbs Monday evening, after the National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for northeastern Kane County and northwest Cook County, then DuPage County.
A severe thunderstorm tracked through northern Illinois and into northwest Indiana Monday night, leading to dozens of damage reports throughout the area. No tornadoes have been reported as of Tuesday morning, according to the weather service.
