The family of a pensioner found murdered in his Pearse Park home 30 years ago this week have made an impassioned plea for information that will bring his killer or killers to justice.
John Kennedy (66) was found with wounds to his neck in the bedroom of his house in Pearse Park at lunchtime on January 1, 1991. He was stabbed with a pair of scissors.
The murder of Mr. Kennedy still haunts the close knit community, with nobody ever brought to trial for it.
Intensive investigations followed the discovery of his body in the two-storey red-brick building where he lived alone.
A retired bakery worker, Mr. Kennedy was murdered some time between 8 p.m. on New Year s Eve, when he was seen on North Quay at Benny Flanagan s pub, and around 1 p.m. the following day.
