(Last Updated On: February 1, 2021) A number of Afghan lawyers have raised concern about the cabinet members assuming their duties without having taken an oath of office. An estimated 17 ministers who recently received votes of confidence from Wolesi Jirga members are thought to be working without having been sworn into office. Concerned lawyers said this was in contravention of Article 74 of the Afghan Constitution. “The Article 74 about assuming office by the ministers has a clear direction. Unfortunately, this article of the Constitution has been violated,” said Arash Shahir, a lawyer. “Before assuming office, the Ministers shall take the following oath in the presence of the President: In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, I swear in the name of God Almighty that I shall protect the Holy religion of Islam, respect the Constitution and other laws of Afghanistan, safeguard the rights of citizens as well as independence, territorial integrity and

Findings on Journalist Killings Still Not Public The Afghan government’s investigation into the systematic murders of the Afghan journalists and civil society activists has created some confusion among the people. A month ago, officials from Afghanistan’s intelligence agency the National Directorate of Security (NDS) announced that the NDS forces had arrested a number of suspects allegedly involved in the killing of Afghan journalists, including the assassination of former TOLOnews’ present Yama Siawash, however, the Afghan security agencies have not disclosed the identity of the attackers and the perpetrators who planned the attacks.  Meanwhile, journalists and civil society activists in Kunduz have said that a rise in threats against the media community has impacted the quality of reporting across the country.

AGO Sources Deny Having Qaisari Case Despite VP s Claim Afghan Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish on Wednesday said that the case of Nizamuddin Qaisari, the former police chief of Qaisar district in Faryab province, has been sent to the Attorney General of Afghanistan, but the Attorney General’s Office denies this.   Sources meanwhile have said that there are cases of rights violations against Qaisari at the National Directorate of Security (NDS).     Qaisari, who served as Qaisar’s local police commander in the northern province of Faryab, was once arrested along with 20 of his men by the Afghan Army’s 209 Shaheen Corps in November 2018. He is charged with violating human rights.
