Pune (Maharashtra) [India], April 29 (ANI): Amid a sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Maharashtra, the Indian Army on Thursday said it has established a dedicated COVID Medical Facility at the old Command Hospital Complex at Pune where substantial capacity has been created for treating civil patients referred by the District Medical Officer, Pune.
According to the Indian Army, the facility has a dedicated team of Army Doctors and Paramedical staff to take care of COVID patients.
This is in addition to the assistance provided by the Army for opening up of a 900 bedded hospital at Ahmedabad,Gujarat and a 100 bedded isolation facility at Barmer, Rajasthan, it said.

New Delhi, April 29 : Indian Army chief General M.M. Naravane said on Thursday that the force is opening hospitals for the local people wherever possible seeing the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases across the country.
After visiting the forward locations in Siachen and eastern Ladakh on Wednesday, Naravane met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to brief him on the various initiatives taken by the Army to help in Covid management.

NEW DELHI: The Army is setting up temporary hospitals in different parts of the country as well as opening its own medical facilities for civilians wherever possible, General M M Naravane said on Thursday.
Briefing PM Narendra Modi on the various initiatives being taken by the Army at a review meeting, Gen Naravane said military medical staff is also being made available to various state governments in the battle against the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
Gen Naravane also informed the PM that the Army is helping with manpower for imported cryogenic oxygen tankers and vehicles, wherever specialised skills are required to manage them.
