Sarpy County Board to interview candidates for Treasurer

By Julia Bertino May 7, 2021 (Sarpy County, NE) Seven candidates to serve as the new Sarpy County Treasurer will be interviewed over the next two weeks. The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners says they will interview the applicants on May 10th and May 18th. The Board says they will interview four candidates on May 10th and three candidates on May 18th. The interviews will start at 9 a.m. both days in the Sarpy County Courthouse and are open to the public. Each interview will last approximately 30 minutes. Following the interviews, the Board will appoint a new Treasurer, who will serve until January 2023. Former Treasurer Brian Zuger was removed from office in April after his office overpaid or underpaid $12 million in public funds to different school districts; and failed to properly disperse a percentage of revenue paid to the county from OPPD, which the utility pays in lieu of property taxes.

The project would be the largest solar farm in Nebraska and is the first step toward OPPD’s plan to provide 600 megawatts of solar power.
