Photojournalist Beaten, KPC Seeks LG, DGP Intervention
SRINAGAR: Kashmir Press Club has condemned the beating of a journalist Saqib Majeed in Srinagar on Monday.
According to Saqib, a statement issued by the KPC said, was roughed up by cops while doing his job along Dal Lake at around 4 pm.
“When I reached near Makai Park, a police patrolling party was enforcing a lockdown and asking people to stay home. I was getting down from my car when a policeman headed towards me and asked why for being there,” the statement quoted Saqib saying. He said that he revealed his identity and showed an identity card but the policeman asked, “don’t you know about the new order?”
