Bandyopadhyay named MJC interim president Dr. Santanu Bandyopadhyay
After a month of serving as the Acting President of Modesto Junior College, Dr. Santanu Bandyopadhyay, the President of Columbia College, has been asked to continue his service to MJC as the Interim President, the Yosemite Community College District announced Tuesday.
Bandyopadhyay replaces Jim Houpis, who has resigned after 22 months as MJC’s leader. Houpis had been out on medical leave since Dec. 8.
Bandyopadhyay has been President of Columbia College in Tuolumne County since July 2018 and was named Acting President at MJC on Jan. 4. YCCD Chancellor Henry Yong said Bandyopadhyay will lead both campuses during the search for a full-time MJC president.

The Yosemite Community College District has named Dr. Santanu Bandyopadhyay to serve as acting president of Modesto Junior College while current President Jim Houpis is out on medical leave.
Bandyopadhyay has been president of Columbia College in Tuolumne County since July 2018, while Houpis has been MJC president for 22 months. Together, MJC and Columbia serve more than 29,000 students.
YCCD Chancellor Henry Yong said Bandyopadhyay will lead both colleges during Houpis’ absence.
“Santanu has been an excellent leader during his time at Columbia College,” Yong said. “The district is fortunate to have someone with his skills and experience who can step into this important position at Modesto Junior College during this time.”

Columbia College Graduates Fire Academy Students
Columbia, CA.Columbia College’s Fire Academy would like to announce the graduation and Certificates of Completion to the successful students of the Fire Technology Program. The certificates are awarded based on the student’s successful completion of the academic and manipulative training as mandated for a California Firefighter 1 Certification.
