we ll move to this story now. governor newsom announcing the san diego case during a virtual conversation with doctor anthony fauci. we re talking about that case with that new covid variant. dr. anthony fauci said it s not unusual to see these types of mutations. rna viruses, they make a living out of mutating. they love to mutate. the overwhelming majority of mutations are irrelevant. they don t have any impact on any important function of the virus. now dr. fauci said one thing to watch out for is whether the variant will be resistant to antibody treatments and he add that the nih is following this particular mutation extremely closely. california saw the number of deaths reach another record. state officials reported 432 more deaths yesterday. the total death toll is now close to 25,000. 10,000 of those are in los angeles county. nearly 31,000 new infections were reported yesterday. and more than 20,000 people are now in hospitals for the fourth day in a row. nearl
