strong sense that that race is going to break toward jess king. all right. let s go back. let s go back to the 8th district, if we can. john nichols just predicted that that race was going to tighten, and it has. with 63% of the vote now being counted, alberta darling has closed the gap. pasch still leads 51% to 49%. that has now been closed dramatically. pasch leading 51% to 49%. you ve got big voting suburbs there that are very, very republican. i will remind you, ed, that the supreme court race that we had back in april, waukesha county suddenly discovered a lot of votes there, well, part of this district includes waukesha county. there s very strong republican turf there, and you ve got to keep an eye on that. so far three wins for the republicans, one for the democrats, and two races get to be called. but the democrats are leading.
now. your thoughts on that. i m actually rather excited. my last check i had not received a call from the milwaukee election commission. there are ten wards there, about 10,000 votes are there. although we don t expect 10,000 people to turn out. the kind of numbers that we ve seen there is really encouraging. in one ward 56 people voted in the last supreme court race, and last i knew 1,002 people voted. this, the heavy turnout in this district, you think is favoring the democrats? i definitely do. as a matter of fact, the numbers you just reported, on behalf of pasch, when you don t have the milwaukee numbers in on top of that i think it will allow her to do exactly what you started to say. maybe it was a freudian slip. leave alberta darling in the dust. lena, what can you tell us about sandy pasch? you know, the first thing i ll tell you is that she s a nurse and she s been very passionate. she did a lot of work that helps with mental health parity and so
have a decision in that race tonight. we ve had a source who was in contact with the menomonee falls clerk there, who says you won t hear anything from us until tomorrow. now, what that means i don t know. but that is just what has been told to me. 80% in. and pasch has fallen behind. as darling has gone ahead 53% to 47%. this of course is the same county that has had some questionable operations in the past such as the supreme court race which you mentioned earlier that happened not too long ago. so a lot of people here are very apprehensive of how this is unfolding. they re disappointed that they might not get the magic number of three. and of course there s another battle next week where two republicans are going to two democrats are going to be challenged in the recall process as well. but in the big picture, rachel, i think that this does give progressives across this country a ray of hope, that there are things that can be done against big money, that if you pay attention to de
