Even as India was getting a handle on the Covid crisis, the end of 2020 brought news of another virus. Over the past two weeks, thousands of birds in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Gujarat were found dead, marking the entry of the highly pathogenic avian influenza into India yet again. This strain of the virus mainly infects birds, but can also infect humans.
