Danger driver who fled scene of crash offered help to turn his life around

A north-east dad sentenced for a long list of charges has been spared jail and offered support to turn his life around for the sake of his children. Craig Neill sped down the wrong side of Peterhead’s Dingwall Drive and repeatedly swerved between carriageways before crashing his car into two others last August. Nearby residents saw him trying to drive away from the scene before realising his car was too badly damaged. When one witness began recording the aftermath on their phone he shouted abuse and swore at the crowd before abandoning his car and fleeing on foot.

Sean Cahill was so overjoyed by his team’s performance he got behind the wheel of a car – even though he didn’t have a licence. Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard he’d previously been banned from driving and even though that disqualification had expired he hadn’t reapplied for his driving licence.

A thug has been jailed for a brutal assault on a “terrified” pensioner in his own home which made the man feel as if he was having a heart attack. Connor Mackintosh brazenly strolled into the 67-year-old man’s home in Macduff and stood behind the oblivious pensioner, who is hard of hearing, as he watched TV. When spotted, the 24-year-old – who wasn’t wearing any shoes, refused to leave and demanded cash and the pensioner’s phone, before punching, kicking and stamping on him. The attack left him with injuries including a fractured rib.
