Hare Krishna Temple president Jagdish Prasad is facing an extensive clean-up job after knee-deep water flooded its staff accommodation. Workers had come in to start work on the lower floors, but it would take a week to dry out properly. In the meantime, the six staff members who had lost their accommodation were either camping on the upper storey of the house, or have been taken in by members of the congregation. It was difficult keeping Higher Taste open, but closing the restaurant was not an option, Prasad said. The Auckland Higher Taste had closed due to Covid-19, and he understood members of the Hare Krishna community had struggled with the loss.
