A CHARITY held its first face-to-face organ donation awareness event following the lockdown. ‘Let’s Talk About You and Me’ is run by One Voice Blackburn and has received a share of £600,000 funding as part of the government’s commitment to tackle health inequalities in Black and Asian communities. Having previously only focused on promoting organ donation, the scheme has now been opened to include projects which also highlight the importance of blood donation. The first Covid-secure event at Bangor St Community Centre included a 90-minute awareness workshop. Specialist nurse in organ donation Angela Ditchfield spoke about the process of transplants, both living and otherwise. She also explained the need of donors from the South Asian community.
LAHORE: Hundreds of women, carrying flags and banners of their political parties, on Sunday attended the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s rally at Minar-i-Pakistan.
They had come to the provincial metropolis from different cities. Belonging to almost all socioeconomic backgrounds, some of them had also brought their children along them.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz had urged the women of her party, especially wives of parliamentarians and office-bearers of the party, to be proactive and ensure participation of the maximum women in the rally. It seems the PML-N women acted on her call and attended the rally in a large number.
