Rivers United have recorded their fourth win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Heartland Football Club at the Adokiye Amesiemeka Stadium on matchday 5.
Losing to Wikki Tourists by a single goal in Bauchi last week Wednesday, the league leaders needed to bounce back, prove their current form is not a fluke and they did just that against Heartland.
From the start of the game, the Pride of Rivers showed their desire for the win. As early as 15 minutes into the game, they were awarded a penalty when Heartland’s Pascal Eze handled the ball in the box. The admirable Godwin Aguda stepped up to the spot and scored.

Before action commenced, the odds favoured Abia Warriors who were winless in three matches to cruise past the lowly rated Jigawa Golden Stars.
Coach Imama Amapakabo’s team started well, taking the lead early in the 7th minute when Arit Archibong’s header found the net with an assist from Nzube Anaezemba. It was the sort of start the Warriors wanted but their joy was short-lived as the visiting team found their way back into the contest with a scrambled goal scored by Olasunkanmi Quadri in the 24th minute.

Akure, Jan. 13, 2021 Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi on Wednesday forced hosts Sunshine Stars to a 2-2 draw in a Match Day 4 fixture in the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure saw Fuad Ekelojuoti putting the home side ahead in the 9th minute.
But the home side soon conceded an own goal to draw the visitors level on the stroke of half-time.
At the resumption of second half, several goalscoring chances were created by Sunshine Stars, but the Lobi Stars goalkeeper pulled several great saves to keep the scoreline at 1-1.

Dennis Obasi’s 7th-minute effort was all MFM FC needed to condemn Sunshine Stars to a defeat in Lagos in a matchday 3 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) South West Derby
Obasi combined well with Akanni Elijah who assisted the goal with a beautiful and brave square play.
Sunshine Stars replied with a decent attacking play, but Kabiru Tijani’s solo move ended with an attempt that went wide after going past two players.
It became an end to end encounter with both sides moving all out for a goal, Clement Ogwu almost doubled the lead in the 22nd minute but his effort was denied by the crossbar.
