Starting Monday, Dec. 18, eight wrestling teams from around the country, including six programs in the Top 25, will take the mat in Nashville, Tenn. as part of the 2023 Collegiate Duals. Let’s break down each of 12 duals we will see as part of this event.
Iowa dominated Columbia with some notable happenings on the periphery of competition. Lions rebounded against UNI. Upper Iowa opened GLVC action successfully and Luther swept two duals at UW-Stevens Point in the Wrestling Weekend That Was.
This week had plenty of dual action including another iteration of the Bedlam rivalry. West Virginia continues to look like a top-twenty team this season, getting two conference dual wins. Wyoming and Missouri competed, with Missouri getting a big win at 125lbs. NDSU and UNI dropped out of confer.
This week saw most of the attention go to CKLV, while some great duals occurred as well. Iowa State ended up winning the tournament with seven on the podium, while Oklahoma State and South Dakota State made the top ten as well. Northern Iowa and Wyoming both had some individual under-the-radar pe.
After more than six months away from competition, Spencer Lee looked strong, winning the the 125.5-pound title at the Bill Farrell Memorial International men’s freestyle tournament and qualifying for the Olympic Team Trials in April.
