Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development supports initiatives and collaboration among cooperatives in the country to create more income opportunities for small entrepreneurs, including through the bazaars and village markets.
KAPIT (Nov 6): More locals are encouraged to explore business opportunities through cooperatives, an area that should be suitable for more community-oriented ventures.
This call was made by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick in his speech for a dinner with
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Ewon Benedick said there are now 14,975 cooperatives in the country, generating a total income of RM22.4 billion. He said with a membership of over seven million, the contribution of the cooperative movement through the collection of share capital and fees was as much as RM16.5 billion, while asset generation amounted to RM156.2 billion.
