The proposal – which is balanced, does not raise taxes and leaves the Rainy Day Fund untouched – continues the Governor’s free community college initiative & invests in health care, housing, and infrastructure
Funds from the Governor’s Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan and MaineHousing will support the construction of rental housing in rural areas to address Maine’s housing shortage
Governor Janet Mills and MaineHousing today announced the launch of a $20 million program supported by the Governor’s Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan to tackle Maine’s housing shortage by expanding the availability of affordable rental housing across rural Maine.
Under the new program, projects must be between five and 18 units in size and may be new construction, rehabilitation of existing housing, or reuse of existing buildings into livable spaces for low- and moderate-income households.
