shepard: good news for those looking to buy a home, bad news for those looking to sell. take a look at the good. freddie mac the rate for an average 30 year fixed mortgage this week dropped to new low of 3.66%. freddie mac has been keeping track since the 1950s. never seen this. if you can scrape together enough money for a down payment, now would be probably be a very good time to buy there is a flip side though. home sales reportedly dropped 1.5% during the month of may so reports the national association of realtors. sales are still up compared with last year. analysts say this latest report is another sign that our economy is still having a great deal of trouble picking up steam. gerri, how did the markets react to that? they have not been happy today. the dow itself down 250 points. a massive sell-off. the second biggest sell off of the year. and when you talk about home sales, the running rate is 4.4 million. it should be 6 million. that would be a normal market. can you see
anybody said about anybody else. jon: so it makes you look insincere or maybe hypocritical if you ve been blasting somebody with negative ads and then pick them as a running rate. right. even his running mate said xy, z about governor romney or senator santorum or speaker gingrich, and it cues up too good a sound bite for the other side. jon: folks at dickenson university took a poll and asked republicans, socially, who would you like to see in the number two spot, and they polled, i think, 799 remin and independents republican and independents, and these are the answers they got. more of them for marco rubio, the freshman florida senator, than even rick santorum or governor chris christie of new jersey. are you surprised? no. and i would think this reflects the hunger among the republican electorate for new blood. and marco rubio is new to the national stage. he doesn t have a lot of
bachmann cannot win a general election. right. i know rick perry cannot win a general election. i know that so many of these flavors of the month the republicans put up cannot win a general election. and somehow, it s something that a lot of people in the republican party and a lot of talkers just don t focus on, mike murphy. this is at the end of the day about winning elections. and rick perry ain t going to win a general election next year. i think he has a small chance but i d rather nominate a candidate with a more than small chance and i agree michele bachmann has no chance. i don t think she can win the primary either. yeah the problem is primary voters vote on passion. they don t vote on electability. governor dean could address that point. when you give him a hot pepper message you get a running rate but you re not necessarily the guy who is going to sweep the country at least hypothetically in the general election. maybe we got a new era of politics but, yeah. most polit
