BOGORO: PILLAR OF THE PEOPLE

Elemdi Akowe pays tribute to Suleiman Bogoro, executive secretary of  TETFund Whenever the life and times of the people of Bogoro comes up for historical review, there is every indication that Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro will stand out. The latest such indication comes from the people themselves as they rose in unison to honour their illustrious son with a significant traditional title, Jenndem Za’ar, that translates to Pillar of the Sayawa (Za’ar) people of Bauchi State. Apart from the self-explanatory meaning of the title, the emergence of a thoroughbred academician and professor, typically relishing blissful scholarly isolation from the mundane world in lofty towers of ivory, as the hero of the multitude of common folk way down below in his hometown, is a welcome departure from the norm.

Events - Teagasc/SRUC Virtual Conference 2021 - Teagasc | Agriculture and Food Development Authority

Event Time 11am The potential of digitalisation to achieve a sustainable natural economy Teagasc and SRUC have for many years collaborated on issues of mutual interest and concern. This process culminated in 2018 with the first of a series of annual conferences aimed at identifying solutions and helping create new opportunities for our rural economies. In 2019, the conference addressed the major environmental, consumer and economic challenges facing our pasture-based livestock systems in Scotland and Ireland. This webinar will bring perspectives and insights on the role of digital technologies to secure a green recovery in the wake of the covid 19 pandemic. In particular to work together to apply digital solutions that could lead to vibrant and sustainable rural sectors in both Scotland and Ireland in the coming decades.
