hi, aishah. good morning, martha. from ruby red alabama where the polls are open and as you mentioned by the time the polls close tonight we do not expect there to be a clear republican nominee for u.s. senate. that s because of all the candidates. we are not expecting any of them to reach that 50% threshold to avoid a runoff next month. here is a look now at the top gop contenders for this race. katie britt is leading the pack in the most recent poll. she is senator shelby s former chief of staff. watch out for mo brooks seeing a late surge and mike dur ants is battling for second place. each candidate trying to prove they re the most conservative. brooks highlighted his record in congress while he has been tying durant. he has been seeing a lot of

just did a swat analysis of almost all of the 50 state parties to see where their strengths and weaknesses were and where the opportunities for the party the national party to work with them. so, you know, things are working and happening in the dnc right now and with our state parties. i feel really good about where we re going because the numbers don t lie. we just picked up a seat in alabama that we didn t have in ruby red alabama. we retained the governorship in virginia and added so many seats in the state house. that s because we invested resources and boots on the ground, and we utilized technology, new apps that we created, all to make that happen. we only have 30 seconds. let me ask you really quickly because when i went out and looked at some of the people, talked to some of the people who were running in virginia in the legislative races, one of the complaints that democrats had was that they did not have access to information. they said, if we want information, we have
2006, 2010 the house flipped in all of those occasions, so historically that s where you would be anyway at this point no matter who is president. he s got smart people around him, i think, that tell him this as well, but the virginia results were absolutely devastating. and the suburban losses in the northeast and a lot of local races in pennsylvania and new jersey and new york. the good news for republicans is they are in control, to some extent, and have an opportunity basically to change that trajectory if they can get their act together. not to mention the alabama results where the republican candidate lost and the president had a net zero rating for approval in the exit polls down in ruby-red alabama. so if you re a republican running in 2018, do you run towards the president or do you run away from him? i think it depends where you are. i think the president is still pretty popular among republicans so if you re from a safe republican seat where the republican primary is y
