Cambridge Arts Theatre has been awarded money as part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF).

Venues and organisations in Royston and across Cambridgeshire have received cash in the second round of awards from the government s £1.57billion Culture Recovery Fund.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden announced on Good Friday details of 2,700 organisations across the country being offered nearly £400 million in grants and loans to help them reopen and recover, on top of the £1billion that has already been allocated in the first round.
Royston Picture Palace and Saffron Screen, Cambridge Junction and Cambridge Arts Theatre Trust Ltd are among those benefiting in the East of England.

After reopening both Royston and Saffron Walden sites in September, organisers had to cancel Christmas screenings in December due to Tier 4 rules.
The vital funding gives the cinemas a degree of financial security for the coming months. We’re grateful for this support in what is a difficult time across the cinema industry,” added Jenny.

Royston’s community cinema reopens this weekend with a programme of films ahead of Christmas.

Based in Royston Town Hall, Mank (12A) will be the first film screened at Royston Picture Palace following the second national lockdown.
Starring Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried and Charles Dance, Mank can be seen at the cinema in Melbourn Street on Friday, December 18 at 7.30pm.
