Rolls-Royce unveils Boat Tail – as it announces new custom service

Updated Thursday, 27th May 2021, 5:52 pm After dipping its toes into the world of custom-car creation with 2017’s standalone Rolls-Royce Sweptail, the car-maker has announced the creation of a separate division to make bespoke cars from ‘truly personal commissions’ for wealthy buyers. The luxury process is called ‘coachbuilding’ and it involves the use of a donor chassis on which a unique body and interior is built. It is a method of production which brings the Goodwood-based car-maker back to its early twentieth century roots, before the dawn of automised industry. Rolls Royce Boat Tail SUS-210527-154743001 Now, Rolls-Royce claims it is offering wealthy customers a chance to participate in that history: “Only the House of Rolls-Royce can offer its Coachbuild clients the inimitable opportunity to commission a product of future historical significance, that is as fundamentally unique as they are – and then participate in every detail of its creation.”

BMW M4 Competition Convertible, Cupra Born EV, Porsche Taycan Vs Audi E-Tron And Model S, Bentley Bentayga S: Your Morning Brief

A Nissan dealer in Virginia wants to boost flagging Titan sales by giving truck buyers a Leaf EV for almost nothing. There’s no monthly payment, just a one-off fee of 99 cents, which sounds like a bargain, but there’s more: the Leaf is eligible for a $7,500 EV tax credit so customers could effectively get ‘paid’ $7,499.01 to take the vehicle. Just in time for summer, BMW has revealed the 503 hp M4 Competition Convertible. Unfortunately, it’ll be October by the time it arrives in the US, but a well-insulated fabric roof and standard four-wheel drive that can be switched to two wheel drive on demand, means it should be more than ready for the winter months.

Rolls-Royce Celebrates Its Spectacular Coachbuilt Cars

Rolls-Royce After taking four years to develop the Sweptail, a rakish two-door coupe based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom, the feedback on the final design was mixed at best. The car s large panoramic glass and 1920s-1930s design are unmistakably unique, but not everyone fell unanimously in love with the rear styling. Rolls-Royce has not officially announced any new one-off projects, but the UK automaker reportedly had several clients call to express their interest after the Sweptail was revealed four years ago. It looks like Rolls-Royce may not leave those requests unanswered for long. We have formally re-established our Coachbuild department for those patrons who wish to go beyond the existing restraints, and explore the almost limitless possibilities this opens up for them. We are able to offer our customers the opportunity to create a motor car in which every single element is hand-built to their precise individual requirements, as befits our status as a true luxury house, s

The existing Bespoke division, which already handles requests from customers to personalise their Rolls-Royce Ghost or Phantom, has also been expanded.
