You are up to date with the headlines. Now its time for a look back at the day in parliament. Hello, and welcome to tuesday in parliament. The main news from westminster. The government insists its still trying to reach a deal with the eu and accuses the labour party of Holding Things up. Faced with a delaying, disruptive and denying tactics of the opposition, we say on behalf of the 17. 4 million, enough, enough, enough we need to leave. Theres irritation over the disruption at westminster caused by the Climate Change protests. It seems to me that the demonstrators are already in control of the police. And when is that going to change we are going to have sensible methods of getting into our work and carrying on the democratic process in this building . And as parliament is suspended, one mp hopes there wont be a repeat of the angry scenes at the last prorogation ceremony. I sat here and in the end, walked out so disgusted to have members opposite on their feet screaming shame at memb

This portion of the debate is 25 minutes. Thank you very much. I think the move to be now read a second time. I want to say at the start that every Single Member of this house, whatever view they hold on the fundamental question, the thought is trying as they act in the National Interest of their constituents. The problem, the reason why we are here is because each of us has a slightly different view of what those best interests are. I hope that we can debate this in a short amount of time. I can do no better than to quote a member who, on the third of april, said it can only be done at high speed, because there is no time left. I think wherever we stand on this issue, we know there is little time left, and following the decision, there is even less time that would have been available previously. Therefore, i hope we will treat each other, recognizing we have strongly held views with respect and consideration during this debate. The purpose of the bill is very simple. It is to ensure t

On this programme mps back a bill demanding the pm ask for a brexit extension and push no deal off the table. Borisjohnson says it puts the eu in charge. There is only one way to describe this deal. It isjeremy corbyns surrender bill. His is a government with no mandate, no morals, and as of today, no majority. The Prime Minister tries and fails to call a general election. The motion has not obtained the majority required under the fixed term parliaments act 2011. Unlock. Also on this programme mps react to the news that the pms brother is to quit as a minister and mp. Taking us out of the eu with no deal with all the damage that will do to peoples jobs and livelihoods. A former Supreme Court judge says the court had put parliament back at the heart of the Decision Making process. What has happened is that our famously flexible and informal constitution has responded to an abuse, by restoring the previous position. Well be live in parliament when it opens, at 11. 30am, and be getting reaction throughout the day here, on bbc news. Good morning and welcome to westminster, where mps are returning to the house of commons. It follows that dramatic and historic ruling by the Supreme Court, that borisjohnsons decision to suspend parliament for five weeks was unlawful. The Prime Minister said he profoundly disagreed with the judges, but would respect their decision. A senior Government Official said borisjohnson spoke to the queen after the ruling, but wouldnt reveal any details of their conversation. In the past half hour, the Prime Minister landed back in

Good morning. A group of mps, including some rebel conservatives who were expelled from the party, are preparing legal action if borisjohnson refuses to agree to a parliamentary bill which would require him to ask for a further delay to brexit. The Prime Minister has said he would rather be dead in a ditch than ask for the eu for another delay, beyond the october 31 deadline. Our Political Correspondent matt cole told me why the government is trying find a way to stop another extension to the article 50 process. The law that is being worked on by the commons and passed by the house of lords this week is waiting for royal assent on monday when it is locked into the statute book. At that point, theoretically Boris Johnson, if he does not have a brexit deal signed off by october the 19th will write to them and say he would like an extension, potentially to the 31st of january, three months beyond the current deadline. He said he would rather be deadline. He said he would rather be deadin
