Established in 1988 through Decree No. 45 as amended by Decree No. 35 of 1992 and passed by the National Assembly as FRSC Act 2007, the corps has towered among its contemporaries to become the lead agency in road traffic administration and safety management in Nigeria and World Bank best example of lead agency in road safety management in Africa. The Federal Road Safety Corps has announced the promotion of 2,880 officers and marshals to new ranks.
The Corps Public Education Officer Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem made the announcement in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
He said that the FRSC approved the promotions following the consideration of a report by its establishment committee.
Kazeem said that 435 officers were promoted to their next ranks, 769 Marshal Inspectors, and 1,676 Road Marshal Assistants were equally elevated to the next ranks.
According to him, out of the 435 officers, 33 of them are promoted from the rank of Chief Route Commander to Route Commander.

Recently at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos, top security practitioners, politicians, business executives, traditional rulers and many others from different walks of life graced the 29th edition of the annual lecture/award ceremony of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), which held on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
Prior to the event, the Chairman, CRAN Lecture/Award Organising Committee, Mr. Emmanuel Edom, while stating that the theme “MANAGING COVID-19 INDUCED SECURITY CHALLENGES” was germane, added that over the years, CRAN through its annual lecture has provided the platform for issues of national importance to be discussed and solutions proffered, which has invariably assisted the authorities in taking some policy decisions.
