Tanzania-UK Relations Rekindled 0share Honourable James Duddridge the UK minister for Africa has been in neighbouring Tanzania for an official working visit, the British High Commission in Dar es Salaam said. According to the UK mission in Tanzania, the Minister arrived Tuesday and spent two days in the coastal East African nation. Duddridge held a series of high-level meetings with President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation minister Liberata Mulamula. Details show that he also met with Kitila Mkumbo Industry and Trade minister and his Investment counterpart, Geoffrey Mwambe. Duddridge flew to Zanzibar on the second day of his visit where he met with President Hussein Mwinyi and First Vice President Othman Masoud Othman.

Othman Masoud named new Zanzibar First Vice President after Hamad's demise

PHOTO | THE CITIZEN | NMG Summary Zanzibari President Hussein Ali Mwinyi has appointed Othman Masoud Othman as the new First Vice President of the semi-autonomous Tanzanian archipelago.  Mr Othman replaces Seif Sharif Hamad who died on February 17, 2021. Veteran politician Hamad was the Zanzibar chairman and presidential contender of the island s main opposition the Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo). The party accepted the ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi invitation to join the government in December last year. According to Zanzibar Constitution, a party that gets at least 10 per cent of the presidential votes will take the position of the First Vice President and form the government with the winning party.
