We received a call, a 911 call a little after 6 50, a freeway shooting in the area of 101 northbound near story. The information we have right now is Still Limited as the investigation is just under way. We can say there was one individual who was shot and taken to the hospital. The extent of the injuries are currently unknown. We dont have any suspect information but the section of 101 is currently closed for investigation and preservation of the scene while our investigators get out there. Okay. One thing that we can update is currently the closure is northbound 101 at tulley but it will be moving up shortly to 101 at 280 and 680 split. Okay. Mother and grandmother were pillars of the family. Hermela Aregawi 92 year old Angela Bontilao and 61year old Carina Bontilao Kubow were on a preeaster church tour yesterday. They left their last stop. Which was our lady of peace church in santa clara. The chp says the driver was going northbound on the 101 and was taking a right at the split near the churchwhen his car went over the median and drove head on into the victims car. Angela and carina were in the back seat and were pronounced dead on the scene. Police tell us the driver and other passenger suffered minor to moderate injuries. The suspect is a 26 year old san jose man. Heres what police know about him at this stage. But no businesses were damaged during that protest. One of my greatest concerns is even in this interview, you know, identifying the store and being subject to retribution. This man has worked in Downtown Berkeley 30years. He didnt want to identify the store where he works because hes scared of becoming a target during saturdays protest. I hope its a peaceful day and a peaceful protest, im not counting on that but i hope so. The Downtown Berkeley association has warned Business Owners of the protest, some have gotten extra security. But this man says if there is violence, he doesnt think added security would make a difference.
