According to police a man wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun walked into the store on the 300 block of east 14th street, thats about a half mile from the police station, and tried to rob the two employees working at the time. The two cashiers tried to charge the suspect. A struggle ensued and the suspect was able to take off, leaving the gun behind. I consider the two men that tried to apprehend the suspect last night, i consider them to be extremely brave. This obviously is not something that we advocate, that the regular person does. Its extremely dangerous. But at the same time, in this case it worked out of. And these two men were able to get a gun off the street that could have been used to harm someone else. Reporter detectives are reviewing the surveillance tape trying to identify the suspect and see if he might be responsible for similar crimes
