smoke inside an apartment in the 6400 block of rock forest drive. there was smoke when they got there and they found a 6-year- old girl alone. we ll look at video of that 6- year-old girl moments after police brought her out of the apartment. now investigators say here s what happened. she had been left unattended by her mother. she started to cook something in the toaster. that toaster started to smoke. that set off an alarm inside the apartment. a neighbor came out after hearing that alarm, saw the little girl wandering around in the hallway. the little girl explained to the neighbor what happened. they called the fire department and the fire department came and dealt with the smoke. now we ll hear from the police. this is captain marcus jones. we were able to locate the mother and the mother has responded to the police station in order to meet with us. we also brought the 6-year-old with us to the police station. reporter: the mom has been charged with leaving an unatten
