BAGUIO CITY – The mayors of Baguio City, and La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay towns, or BLISTT, agreed to limit non- essential travel anew from December 27 to December 31 to mitigate any surge in the incidence of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The measure will be implemented following the marked increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Benguet province with 55 new cases, 26 of which were recorded in La Trinidad, and 21 in Itogon, on Friday, December 25.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda, Itogon Mayor Victorio Palangdan and Tublay Mayor Armando Lauro gave the green light for the reimposition of the border limitations, and were just waiting for Sablan Mayor Manuel Munar and Tuba Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan to give their decision.

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat announced that around 27,000 qualified displaced tourism workers in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) have been endorsed by the Department to receive the P5,000 cash aid from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The beneficiaries warmly received their documents as timely tokens for Christmas during the ceremonial awarding of the financial assistance certificates led by the tourism chief at the Wright Park Gazebo in Baguio City on Monday.
“I commend the City of Baguio, the Province of Benguet, and the entire Cordillera Administrative Region for proactively responding to the call to make the Bayanihan Act 2 cash assistance program accessible to the displaced tourism workers in your area,” Puyat said.

+ December 19, 2020 WITH the enhanced border control, fewer individuals are going out of La Trinidad–Itogon–Sablan–Tuba–Tublay (LISTT) areas.
Colonel Elmer Ragay, Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO) director, on Friday, December 18, 2020, clarified checkpoints were already established in different areas since the enhanced community quarantine was imposed.
“Based on record for the past two days of implementation since December 16, individuals going out of LISTT areas decreased due to awareness of the stricter border control guidelines (obtaining travel documents) from authorized agencies. Only essential travels and with complete travel requirements are allowed passage,” Ragay added.
The provincial director explained the police man in the different checkpoints already denied entry to individuals coming in to the LISTT areas with no appropriate Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) required documents.
