Budget. The Romanian
Government has approved today the first budget adjustment of the year, which is
positive and based on an increase in the Gross Domestic Product of
approximately 30 billion lei (6 billion euros) to the general consolidated
budget Following the budget adjustment, the ministries of Finance, Labor and
European Projects will receive more money. The measures taken by the Executive
to support the economy and the citizens, in the context of the very high
increase in inflation, have priority. These measures include a support scheme
for compensating electricity and natural gas prices, as well as state subsidies
for the diesel fuel used in agriculture and guarantees for loans contracted by
farmers.
Inflation. The annual
inflation rate in the euro zone stood at 8.9% in July, up from 8.6% the
previous month, while in the European Union it rose from 9.6% to 9.8%, according
