25 Sri Lankans arrested in India for drug trafficking

Thursday, 01 April 2021 - 8:53 Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 25 Sri Lankans were arrested by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) for transporting narocotics on two raids which were conducted near the island of Minicoy. During the first raid which was carried out on 05 March, 06 Sri Lankan nationals were arrested when the ICG inspected a fishing vessel that set sail from Chilaw. It was also revealed that more than 200 kilograms of heroin were dumped in the sea during the raid. The second raid which took place on 15 March, had the The second raid was carried out by the Indian Coast Guard on March 15, when the attention of the ICG was drawn to three fishing vessels that had set sail from Tangalle of Sri Lanka.

He is one of the thousands who emerged from Baghouz, a dusty town near the Iraqi border where ISIS made its last stand in March 2019 against Kurdish-led forces backed by an international coalition.

Nine-month-baby beaten by mother: Mother gives reasons for her actions

Tuesday, 02 March 2021 - 13:45 The mother of a baby was arrested in connection with a video circulating on social media showing a baby being brutally beaten. Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the incident was reported from the Jaffna - Ariyale - Navaladi area. The video shows the nine-month-old baby being beaten by a 24-year-old mother with a stick, then dragged into a room and beaten again with a stick, where the baby cries in agony. The mother was arrested and the baby was taken into police custody when the Jaffna Police went to the house and conducted investigations into the video which was circulated on social media.
