Children painting on the walls at Rock Springs Elementary

Children have been painting on the walls for five years at St. James Elementary School – but it’s all for a common purpose and supervised by adults. Students are working on their most recent creation – an abstract mural depicting the cover of a book they recently read written by Lebron James and illustrated by Nina Mata, “I Promise.” “The kids were very excited to use a book that they’d already known the author from sports,” Principal Shanti Clancy said. “The book talks about promises that you make to become a successful human being like promising to go to school, to listen to your teacher, and other promises.”
