AHMEDABAD: Shreya, now six years and nine months old, on Tuesday got a new home and set of parents as she was adopted by an Italian couple in a ceremony in presence of Ishwar Parmar, minister of social justice and empowerment. The ceremony in Gandhinagar also had Jagruti Pandya, chairperson of Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and C K Patel, president of Shishu Gruh.
The couple Roberto Bacchin and Annalisa Poletti had started the procedure of adoption through CARA in 2020, but due the waves of Covid, first in Italy and then in India, delayed the procedure, said officials.
