PITTSFIELD â Starting next week, City Hall and nearby municipal offices will reopen to the public five days a week, during typical business hours.
And according to Mayor Linda Tyerâs office, when City Hall and other public buildings resume normal operating hours beginning June 1, face coverings will not be required, though a mask advisory for the unvaccinated will be in effect.
âAs part of the governorâs announcement issued last week, the stateâs mask mandate is no longer in effect for fully vaccinated people for both indoor and outdoor spaces. However, there is a mask advisory for those who are not yet vaccinated,â said Roberta McCulloch-Dews, director of administrative services for the mayorâs office. âIn alignment with this current guidance, effective June 1, employees and visitors to municipal offices will no longer be required to wear a mask indoors.â
PITTSFIELD â The vaccination buddy system is raising alarm bells in Pittsfield.
The state on Thursday started allowing one person who accompanies a senior 75 or older to get a COVID-19 vaccine at some of the state s public vaccination sites, including at Berkshire County s three public clinics, to get a shot themselves.
The aim of the new rule, as an official of Mayor Linda Tyer s administration noted in a news release Friday, was to increase the number of people older than 75 who receive the vaccine.
But, the system âhas resulted in an alarming increase in direct solicitation and advertising to seniors from individuals seeking to get vaccinated,â Roberta McCulloch-Dews, director of administrative services, said in the release.
