MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — Quilts made in or residing in West Virginia and made before 1975 can be documented for future generations during the upcoming Mountaineer Week.

PARKERSBURG Awards were presented April 17 to the Blennerhassett Chapter DAR received from the virtual West Virginia DAR State Conference.
The awards were presented during the chapter’s April 17 meeting at the Blennerhassett Museum.
The received the following awards:
∫ State Regent’s Project – Silver Level, Refurbishment of WV Peters Cottage
∫ Membership Committee: Honorable Mention, Blennerhassett Chapter, 5 new members
∫ Commemorative Events Committee: Other Commemorations – 2nd Place, Blennerhassett Chapter, Miscellaneous, 250th Anniversary of George Washington’s Exploration of the Ohio Valley

PARKERSBURG Two members of the Blennerhassett Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution posted wins in the American Heritage Committee annual contest open to all members.
With the theme of “Rise and Shine Your Light on Your Revolutionary War Patriot,” Blennerhassett Chapter members Cathy Hinkle placed 1st nationally in the in the unenhanced color photo category and Roberta Gellner placed 2nd in the West Virginia-only contest in Machine Quilted Quilts.
Hinkle’s photograph showed a candle reflecting light through a pair of old eyeglasses sitting on her family’s opened bible with her Revolutionary War patriot and his family’s names showing.
