Before. Good evening. And we begin tonight with several developing stories. First, in boston this evening, the frightening moments late today as the rush hour commute began. The subway, the t, as new englanders call it, filling with smoke. Take a look. It happened at one of the busiest stops, the Back Bay Station, not far from the scene of that terror at the boston marathon. So, you can just imagi immediate fears. Riders desperate to get out, opening those doors, jumping from windows. Several then transported to the hospital. This does not appear to be terror, but these were very tense moments. And abcs linsey davis with the early clues tonight. Reporter tonight, a rush hour nightmare. Cell phone video captures the panic inside bostons famous Back Bay Station as smoke fills the air. Passengers try to escape, breaking windows and diving out. Video inside the subway car, the shows commuters cramming through a window get out. Im going to open the door. Just calm down. One thing about both of my parents that i feel like is a great trait to have is that they wanted us to become our own people. Berkeley could be in for a radical makeover. We are getting a look tonight at some plans to renovate the bart station. Da lin says that is just the beginning. Da. Reporter ken, we standing on Center Street now the heart of berkeley. That growth will surround this bart station. Its the anchor for that growth. And thats why they are spending money to modernize this rotunda and this transportation hub. It looks very old. Not bad. I dont like the rotunda. I dont like it. Reporter this rotunda, like it or not, has served as the main entrance for the Downtown Berkeley bart station for almost half century. Now city leaders and bart are about to pump 10 million into the heart of berkeley transforming this hub into Something Like this. This is a city being reborn right here. Reporter matt nichols is the principal planner leading the revitalization of this transportation hub. He says more than 30,000 transit riders come through here every day. That number is going up.
