PITTSTOWN, N.Y. â New York State Police confirmed an ongoing homicide investigation in Pittstown. During a late afternoon press brief at State Police Brunswick barracks in Troy, Rob Appleton, BCI Captain from Troop G, was flanked by Troop G Commander Major R. Christopher West and Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly, for an update.
Appleton confirmed that an incident happened around 3:46 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9. A call came into Rensselaer County 9-1-1 for a home invasion in progress at 151 Jay Herrington Road in the Town of Pittstown also known as Buskirk.
According to Appleton, a preliminary investigation reveals that three subjects attempted to gain entry into the residence, waking the occupants. During the incident, Nathaniel M. Miller, 19, suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The suspects fled into a wooded area in an unknown direction.
A SCHOOL community has raised hundreds of pounds in days after an outdoor classroom was damaged by vandals. Parents at Springfield Academy, in Darlington, said they wanted to help the school after the efforts of headteacher and “absolute legend” Richard Gartland and his staff to support pupils this year. Staff at the school, which is part of the Education Village, were devastated this week after vandals smashed a playhouse and destroyed plants. In response, parents set up a fundraiser which has raised more than £400, including £200 from Haughton Matters.
