But with those plans come worries that the changes won t be equitable, that wealthy people will get their electric cars and energy efficient technology while the poor will get left behind. In rural North Carolina, NPR s Dan Charles visited one man who s trying to keep that from happening, carrying on a legacy of the New Deal.

Montana Co-op Director Chris Christensen Elected NRECA Board of Directors President
ARLINGTON, Va. (March 4, 2021) – Chris Christensen, a director of NorVal Electric Cooperative in Montana, today begins his two-year term as president of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) board of directors. Curtis Wynn, NRECA’s outgoing board president and CEO of Roanoke Electric Cooperative, passed the gavel to Christensen during NRECA’s annual meeting.
Christensen was elected NRECA president by the association’s board of directors. He is the immediate past vice president and previously served as secretary-treasurer. Tony Anderson, general manager of Cherryland Electric Cooperative in Michigan, was elected vice president, and Joe Martin, board president at Mountain

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities (Endowment) has named Rex Lumber CEO Caroline Dauzat to its board for 2021. Also named were Curtis Wynn from the Roanoke Electric Cooperative and Shannon Estenoz from the Everglades Foundation. Each will serve three-year terms.
Rex Lumber is one of the largest softwood lumber manufacturers in the U.S. Specializing in southern yellow pine, the family-owned company employs more than 700 across four sawmills - two in Florida, one in Mississippi, and one in Alabama.
The U.S. Endowment says it s the nation s largest public charity dedicated to ensuring the livelihood of forests. It was established at the request of the U.S. and Canadian governments in accordance with the Softwood Lumber Agreement of 2006.

RALEIGH In Fall 2020, Campbell Law’s Advocacy Program launched its Lawyers and Leaders program, designed to develop lawyers who will “lead with purpose.”
“We do so by bringing together leaders from the private sector, government sector, and academia to start a conversation on how we can lead ourselves, how we can lead through advocacy and how we can lead the communities around us,” explained Professor Anthony Ghiotto, director of the advocacy program. “We are excited to continue this effort in the Spring Semester. We anticipate a number of special events and speakers that address how to lead as citizens, advocates, and attorneys in these increasingly uncertain and problematic times.”
