The announcement serves as a bellwether that downtown businesses are ready for post-pandemic growth. Aurora Downtown gives nearly $40,000 in small business grants   Aurora Downtown has approved nearly $40,000 in small business grants this week. The nonprofit group oversees the Special Service Area downtown, and is distributing the grant funds to 13 businesses.   Aurora Downtown s Business Attraction and Retention Committee announced a variety of small business grants of up to $5,000 in February, with a May 1 deadline to apply. Grant recipients include The Yetee, Wyckwood House, The Riverfront Playhouse, Endiro Coffee, QT3 Fitness, Heath Holding LLC, JH Real Estate Partners, The Perch, Payton s Photography, Aurora Historical Society, Aurora Regional Fire Museum, Fox Valley Music Foundation and Kathryn s Place.

Aurora s First Fridays to offer activities for teens and kids May 7 On May 7, 1 E. Benton will be open with artwork on display by three local artists during First Fridays. Courtesy of Joseph Weber   Updated 5/4/2021 12:47 PM First Fridays will feature nearly two dozen venues open with art, music, and more on May 7. The monthly event returned in April after going virtual for some dates last year. May s event will have something for everyone, and includes more than a handful of activities geared toward kids and teens.   The Alive Center for Teens, 78 S. LaSalle St. located inside Community Christian Church, will participate in First Fridays for the first time with a Hot Wheels Super Track Race. They will have a track setup for racing the cars on the sidewalk. The new teen center will also be giving tours from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

A Virtual Christmas Carol

Aurora, IL 60505 Event Description For the 27th consecutive year, The Riverfront Playhouse at 11-13 South Water Street Mall in downtown Aurora will present their own original version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This year’s performance will be a whittled down, virtual presentation available on the Riverfront’s YouTube channel on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 and Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, and continuing for a limited run through January 1. ​ Adapted from the classic Charles Dickens story by Riverfront veteran, the late Jack Schultz, this production of A Christmas Carol is an abbreviated version of the show and includes new topical content and song lyrics, written by Schultz’ children, Jackson Jackson-Schultz and Heidi Schultz.
