The
Climate Action Report, a periodic report to the United Nations, was
issued in early June. A media frenzy claimed that this report
somehow contained revelatory new science that changed the debate on
global warming.
The
report has little new science. But since 1992, when America
embarked on the Rio Treaty, a great deal of new science has come
forward. The United States is a leader in studying the subject. The
U.S. has invested some $45 billion in research funding on this
question over the past 10 years.
I
wanted to update you on the latest science since 1992 and assure
UNC: Government needs real plan for Venezuelan migrants
Rodney Charles -
NAPARIMA MP Rodney Charles accused the Government of making up a Venezuelan migrant policy as it goes along, and in such a way as to cause long-term resentment all around.
His statement on Friday was in reaction to the Prime Minister’s remarks at Thursday’s post-Cabinet briefing that his policy was to put TT first, even as he promised tough new laws for those who encourage illegal immigration, while giving a further six-month extension to registered migrants.
Charles charged, “PM Rowley, in his angry and incoherent rant yesterday demonstrated that TT s foreign policy towards Venezuela remains ad hoc, reactive, angry and devoid of long-term implications of how future generations of Venezuelans will judge us.”
What’s new? Crime and violence have simmered along the lengthy Colombian-Venezuelan frontier for decades. But the regional spillover of Venezuela’s political conflict and economic collapse has caused ties between the two states to fray as well, amid border closures, a migrant exodus and rival military exercises.
Why does it matter? Numerous armed groups clash with one another and harm citizens along a border marked by abundant coca crops and informal crossings. High bilateral tensions could spur escalating border hostilities while perpetuating the mistreatment of migrants and refugees whose movements have been restricted by COVID-19.
What should be done? Colombian and Venezuelan authorities should urgently establish communication channels to resolve violent incidents along the border, possibly with international backing. They should reopen formal border crossings as planned, but also increase humanitarian aid to help ensure that migrants and refugees are healthy and can m
For a week now cars from the seventies have been parked on my street in anticipation of the shooting a scene from an Amazon Movie directed by George Clooney and Staring Ben Affleck. This morning things actually got rolling as they started putting props in place hence the bowling shoes ball and old bag and putting NY plates on the cars in the area and changing signs.
I’ve actually have quite a few things form the 70’s that I offered to let them use but never heard back.
We started getting notices on our doors a few weeks ago, they said they were going to shoot yesterday, then Tuesday , then back to yesterday and finally ended up going for today. My oldest hoping to get a batman thing singed by Clooney and Affleck took Wednesday off and crashed at the house, alas the schedule changed again and he’s out of the loop.
