Water safety is top of mind for local recreation managers, especially after two drowning deaths in Garfield County. Recreationists should check conditions, as well as the rules and regulations for the areas they plan to visit.
Two people have drowned in state parks within Garfield County in the span of six days, according to a news release from the Garfield County Coroner’s office. The first incident occurred May 12, when 26-year-old.
Declining water levels at Rifle Gap Reservoir have prompted Colorado Parks and Wildlife to close boat ramps at the park starting Aug. 15, six weeks earlier than last year and two and a half months.
