Former Town midfielder Kieron Dyer has won a battle for £50,000 with Town. At a hearing yesterday Kieron was awared the money after the Football League were brought in to settle the dispute surrounding Kieron s signing on fee, an amount of which the club had failed to pay. Town stated on several occasions throughout the summer that Dyer asked for a transfer, something that seems now was not the case. Had Dyer put in a transfer request and not merely asked to be informed of any interest from Premiership clubs (as Dyer and his agent claim) he would no longer have been entitled to the £50,000. Town have 14 days to appeal.
Jim Magilton has been confirmed as Town s new penalty taker. He replaces Mark Venus who recently missed two in successive games. Magilton has previously taken penalties for Oxford and Southampton and will hopefully fill the position which has never really been claimed by anyone since the days of John Wark and Neil Thompson, penalty kings both. In the last couple of years Venus has missed three, Johnson two, whilst Taricco, Scowcroft, Tanner, Dyer and Mathie have also missed one each.
